New Baggage Policy Concerning China / Europe Routing

Recently, China Southern’s partners KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and Air France have adjusted their baggage policy to a “one piece concept”. In order to operate in line with KLM and Air France, China Southern has therefore also adjusted the baggage policy.

This adjustment will become effective from April 10, 2010 (ticket issue date) onwards, and is valid for all China Southern flights on the Sino – Europe routing (except the Russian route), China Southern Airlines flights and code-share flights and onward flights baggage transport policy, which have been adjusted as follows:

1. The amount of free of charge check-in baggage

(1)  The weight of each check-in piece of baggage may not exceed 23 kilograms, and the size of each piece of baggage may not exceed 158 cm in total (sum of the 3 dimensions).
(2)  FFP Sky Pearl Club Silver and Gold club members are entitled to an additional baggage allowance, whatever their travel class, weighing no more than 23 kilograms.

Free of charge baggage allowance for all classes are as follows:

Please note: infants without a seat, under the age of 2 benefit from a standard 10 kg baggage allowance, and free transport of a stroller and a cabin bag.

2. Check-in baggage weighing more than 32 kg   

Prior registration and approval is required for passengers carrying 1 or more pieces of baggage weighing more than 32 kg. Passengers must inform China Southern and pay the excess baggage charges.

3. Additional charge attached to excess baggage

The charge for excess baggage is subdivided into 3 categories:
If multiple charges apply to one piece, add up all relevant charges.

1. Excess in weight
2. Excess in amount
3. Excess in size

The charges of excess baggage are as follows:

	Other Classes	Departure from Europe: Every extra piece of luggage: €200, or its equivalent in local currency
		Departure from other countries: Every extra piece of luggage: $200, or its equivalent in local currency.
Excess in size	Larger than 158 cm	Departure from Europe: €300, or its equivalent in local currency
		Departure from other countries: $300, or its equivalent in local currency

4. Cabin baggage

Each passenger can take one piece of cabin baggage free of charge, and 1 piece of accessory. The allowance of a second piece of cabin baggage depends on the passengers’ class:
