GUANGZHOU, China - October 21, 2008 - China Southern Airlines, (NYSE: ZNH, HKSE: 1055, SHA 600029) - www.csair.com/global - the newest member of SkyTeam and the largest airline in The People’s Republic of China hosted the 4th SkyTeam Steering Committee Meeting in early October here in Guangzhou.
This was the first time for China Southern Airlines – the newest member of the global aviation alliance - to host a SkyTeam Steering Committee Meeting and the first time such a meeting held in mainland China.
China Southern Airlines Vice President Mr. He Zongkai and Air France Vice President Mr. Dominique Patry jointly chaired the meeting with more than 30 representatives of the 11 SkyTeam airline members present.
At the meeting, members of the SkyTeam Steering Committee summarized the performance of SkyTeam in 2008, outlined the activities in 2009 and discussed future development.
The SkyTeam Steering Committee is composed of SkyTeam member airlines’ vice presidents, directly reporting to SkyTeam’s Governing Board - formed by the member airlines’ presidents or chairmen. The SkyTeam Steering Committee is responsible for executing the Governing Board’s directives; propose alliance strategy and annual budget to the Governing Board and coordinate alliance activities within each member airline and the professional teams.
China Southern Airlines’ senior management held private consultations with their counterparts from Air France and Czech Airlines.
